TJ's Tree of Life acrylic on canvas 20" x 16" x 1.5"
The painting uses masking techniques similar to batik, to reveal past layers of paint. The process is both additive and subtractive. When removing the mask the initial layers are revealed transforming the abstract composition into the tree of life. The painting has gold tones that glow in the light. The border reveals the layers of colors that creates the positive space of the trees.
