Primary Evergreen Abstract acrylic on canvas 20" x 16" x 1.5"
Primary Evergreen Abstract, is inspired by my time in Indonesia when I studied Batik. While in Indonesia, the layered aspects of life began to filter through space, sounds and smells. When I returned the layered quality of life continued. When walking through a forest the trees reflect light, memories and ideas. Thinking about the space and the associations created, I began painting my layered paintings. The forms take their shapes from the evergreen trees around my neighborhood. The blue, gray brown and white bands of color blend into each other on the lower layer. The upper layer consists of a soft pink white to salmon red gradient with overlaying thin gradient stripes.
