Forest Abstract Study II acrylic on canvas 11" x 14" x .5"
Inspired by time spent studying Batik in Indonesia, the layered aspects of life began to filter through space, sounds and smells. When I returned the layered quality of life continued. When walking through a forest the trees reflect light, memories and ideas. Thinking about the space and the associations created, I began painting my layered paintings. Looking up at the branches of a tree, I saw the space between. As I looked at the space between, the tree branches and tree trunks transformed into pillars.
