Cedars Along The Line Diptych, uses techniques inspired by my study of batik in Indonesia. The painting uses masking techniques similar to batik, to reveal past layers of paint. The process is both additive and subtractive. The painting depicts a line of cedars that grow along electric lines between the 5 freeway and the train tracks in San Juan Capistrano. The space creates layers that are explored in the painting.
