Forest Abstract IV acrylic on canvas 16" x 20" x 1.5"
Forest Abstract IV, is inspired by my time in Indonesia when I studied Batik. While in Indonesia, the layered aspects of life began to filter through space, sounds and smells. When I returned the layered quality of life continued. When walking through a forest the trees reflect light, memories and ideas. Thinking about the space and the associations created, I began painting my layered paintings. This is the first motif of my layered paintings in which I mask the forms and paint layers. The blue, grey and brown stripes color the trees while the colors of daybreak dusk create a gradient of light pink to pale gold to light blue.
