Arcadia Abstract acrylic on canvas 16" x 20" x 1.5"
Arcadia Abstract, depicts branches seen above the street where I live in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The lines of the trees become like a stain glass window. The process is inspired by my time in Indonesia when I studied Batik. While in Indonesia, the layered aspects of life began to filter through space, sounds and smells. When I returned the layered quality of life continued. When walking through a forest the trees reflect light, memories and ideas. Thinking about the space and the associations created, I began painting my layered paintings. Looking up at the branches of a tree, I saw the space between. As I looked at the space between, the tree branches transformed.
