Live Demo in Laguna Beach - August 7, 2020

Sunflower Abstract I, with its gold and black textured foliage, was painted during a live demo in Laguna Beach, CA on August 7, 2020. The painting depicts the forms of Sunflowers glowing yet silhouetted against a blue sky. Holes in the leaves are the marks from the common gold finch, who pecks through the leaves, creating windows like a cathedral.

This was my first live artist demo in Laguna Beach. I was supposed to have done a painting demonstration July 24th in Laguna Beach, but the Promenade closed down. While I was disappointed, the cancellation pushed me to explore live stream broadcast of a demo from my art studio, which ended up working well.

I found that during a livestream in my studio, I was able to interact and answer questions from viewers. During the live demo in Laguna Beach, technology did not allow for a continuous live stream broadcast. My phone would broadcast for a while and then overheat and shut the video down. I was able to get a few questions from virtual viewers, but not very many. 

In Laguna Beach, I could talk to people passing by who had questions. The environment was relaxed and enjoyable.
